HEALTHY COOKING STARTS WITH HEALTHY COOKWARE

STORY

GreenPan is a Belgian brand that developed the world's first non-stick cookware without using fluoropolymer resin.

GreenPan is a Belgian brand that developed the world's first non-stick cookware without using fluoropolymer resin. GreenPan was created by Jan Helskens and Wim De Veirman, both from Belgium. The research began at a time when advanced countries like the United States were not openly discussing the release of toxic substances when overheating fluoropolymer coatings, let alone informing the industry. They started searching for a safe alternative coating for human health and the environment, and conducted research and development with other researchers.

The ceramic coating, which had been used as a fireproof material, was found to be heat-resistant and free from harmful substances. They experimented repeatedly to see if it could be processed into kitchenware. It took further time for quality assurance, verification of safety for human health and the environment, establishment of appropriate processing facilities, and actual implementation.

In 2007, they developed a patented ceramic non-stick coating called "Thermolon™" that does not use any harmful PFAS substances. This was an innovative announcement that completely overturned the industry's value standards that had been biased towards fluoropolymer resin since 1958. And thus , GreenPan was born.

WHY CERAMIC?

Why ceramic? What is Thermolon?

The ceramic coating, which had been used as a fireproof material, was found to be heat-resistant and free from harmful substances. They experimented repeatedly to see if it could be processed into kitchenware. It took further time for quality assurance, verification of safety for human health and the environment, establishment of appropriate processing facilities, and actual implementation.

  • Ceramic Coating

Not only are we proud to be pioneers in ceramic coating cookware, but we also take pride in our evolving proprietary technology. As the creators of the ceramic non-stick cookware category, we incorporate new innovations into our skillful designs and excellent functionality.

  • Evolving Ceramic Coating

Our latest cookware has reached the fifth stage of evolution. By adding diamond particles and enhancing Thermolon, the performance has significantly improved. The durability of the non-stick coating has increased, making it last longer. It has been perfected to be the best ceramic non-stick coating yet.

  • No Harmful Substances

We do not use Fluororesin (PTFE) or any other PFAS, including PFOA, as well as chemicals such as lead and cadmium that can affect human health and the environment.

Pay attention to the cooking utensils, just as you would choose high-quality ingredients.

Today, many people are conscious of the importance of being healthy and have a high interest in ingredients and cooking methods. Recently, it has become possible to purchase with peace of mind, as organic food clearly states its place of production and producers. However, what about the coating on cooking utensils? Do you know that ceramic non-stick coating is different from conventional coatings and can contribute to your health? Just like with safe ingredients, I would like you to also pay attention to safe cooking utensils.

How is Thermolon made?

  • STEP 1: Sol-Gel Procedure

By applying a Sol-Gel procedure, the sand derivative is transformed into a sprayable solution. No need for any chemicals like PFAS.

  • STEP 2: Coating Process

The solution is then sprayed onto the body of the frypan without glues or additives.

  • STEP 3: CO2 Reduction

Finally, the pan is cured in the oven with 60% less CO2 emissions compared to traditional non-stick!

Current Status and Future of Safety

In 2002, the US Environmental Protection Agency issued a directive to completely eliminate the harmful substance PFOA by 2015. PFOA is a type of organic fluorinated compound (PFAS) that is used in the production of fluororesin-coated products, but it has been found to accumulate in the human body. In 2015, major companies in various industries, including the cookware industry, completely discontinued the use of PFOA in their manufacturing processes. However, in order to continue using fluororesin coating, companies that manufactured fluororesin-coated products began using alternative substances to replace the banned PFOA. However, it turns out that these alternative substances are also harmful organic fluorinated compounds (PFAS) and are still being used.

These organic fluorinated compounds (PFAS) are released into the environment and due to their resistance to decomposition, they persist in the natural environment for a long time. For example, they can accumulate from soil to rivers and then into organisms, affecting human health and ecosystems. Some substances among PFAS have been identified as causing reproductive and kidney cancers and affecting hormone systems, leading to significant concerns in Europe and America.

We believe that choosing and using GreenPan, a harmless ceramic coating, by as many people as possible will be one action to protect the future of our planet's environment. We will continue to spread this message.

TECHNOLOGY

The excellent features of GreenPan

The distinguishing features of GreenPan are its cutting-edge technology, design aesthetics, healthiness, and user-friendliness.

  • Incorporating diamond particles into the coating

The combination of ceramic with far-infrared effect and diamond particles with excellent thermal conductivity and thermal diffusion rates enhances cooking efficiency.

  • Applying ceramic coating on the outer side as well

Easy to clean and maintain, dirt comes off easily.

  • Scratch guard processing

The main body's aluminum has been treated with scratch guard processing technology, making it even more resistant to scratches and impacts.

*Compatible with the Venice Pro and Featherweight Cocotte series.

  • Magnet IH compatible processing (bottom surface)

It is resistant to thermal deformation and has excellent heat conductivity. It is compatible with IH, as well as gas stoves and various heat sources.
